The organizers of the Sel Hotel Mývatn Open 2026 asked GM Simon Williams to give his opinion on the 1st edition of Godinn tournament 2025 and we quoted him directly.
“The 1st Godinn tournament was like steeping into a friendly fairy tale. The most amazing scenery and friendliest people. It has already become my favourite tournament. Make sure you come for the 2nd edition”
The organizers also asked the Icelandic IM Björn Þorfinnsson about his opinion on the 1 st Godinn tournament and Þorfinnsson was also pleased with the tournament.

The organizers of the Sel Hotel Mývatn Open are very pleased that Simon Williams and Bjorn Thorfinnsson enjoyed the first edition of the tournament so much and both plan to return. They have both been to many chess tournaments around the world and are therefore very experience.
Their comments are an encouragement to us to make the Sel Hotel Mývatn Open 2026 even better than the Godinn chess tournament 2025.
