Simon Williams will be among the participants in the tournament

The English Grandmaster Simon Williams will be among the participants at the Goðans Anniversary Tournament which will take place in Skjólbrekka 13-16 March 2025. This is great news as he is the first Grandmaster to confirm participation in the tournament and also the first foreign competitor in the tournament.

Grandmaster Simon Williams is well known in the chess world and has previously played in tournaments in Iceland. It is safe to say that there is great anticipation among the Goðans players to have him at the tournament.

Registration for the tournament opened in december and 12 competitors have already confirmed their participation, in addition to Simon Williams. These include the international champions, Björn Þorfinnsson, Dagur Ragnarsson, Áskell Örn Kárason and Fide champion Ingvar Þór Jóhannesson, as well as local players.
